Woodend Eagles End of 2026 Season Presentation Memories

Hi everyone,

We’re starting to put together our end-of-season presentation and would love your help capturing the season properly.
If you’ve taken any photos or videos during the year — games, training, team moments, celebrations, muddy boots, great goals, funny moments or anything else that helps tell the story of the season.

Don’t worry about sorting through them too much — if you think it might be worth including, send it through!
We’ll use a selection of the photos and videos in the end-of-season presentation so we can look back on the year together.

Also, scroll down below for a little sneak peek on something special we’re working on for the kids 🤫

Thanks everyone 🦅⚽

Shhhh, a little surprise

We’ve been working on a surprise for an end of inaugural season present for our Woodend Eagles players.

The idea is to create a set of Woodend Eagles player trading cards featuring our players. The cards are designed to be collectible and each player would receive a pack with a card for every player in their team. A great memento of the season and something to look back on for the years to come to remember their team mates and the memories they shared.

Trading cards for community sporting clubs are a pretty common gift, but we don’t do things by half at Eagles. So we’re working on a possible little twist. If we can get it to work, then instead of typical player statistics each player will have their own football-style identity and ways they can help a team, allowing the cards to also part of a football game.

The important bit is that we’re designing a game where all players have the same number of overall attributes, just apportioned differently across categories – and a ‘special skill’ to give each player some extra personality.  This makes every player equally useful, just in different ways. A great passer might help you build an attack. Another player might be better at winning the ball back, creating space, defending, shooting from distance or keeping possession. The game is about being a coach, not the ‘best player’. Coaches will need to choose formations, decide where to play their cards and make football decisions during the game — when to pass, when to attack, when to take a risk and how to get the best out of the different players in their team. A fun trading-card game, but one that celebrates the idea that a football team needs different kinds of players, and that a team is more important than any player.

We’ll share more about how the game works if it comes together as we get closer to producing the first cards, but I wanted to give everyone an early heads-up and make sure parents are comfortable with the idea. Even if we can’t get the game ready in time, hopefully there will be something pretty exciting about getting your own Woodend Eagles trading card!

We won’t share any photos of the cards on social media, but if you have any concerns about your kids being included in the trading cards please reach out to us at secretary@woodendsoccer.com.au

🦅 Collect the players. Build the team. Make the decisions.
