Woodend Eagles Soccer Club was officially founded in early 2024 and incorporated in Sept 2024, but the club actually has a long history in its previous forms.

Woodend has always has a passion for soccer and produced many fantastic players, but due to the lack of facilities in the town many players have ended up playing under Kyneton or Gisborne Soccer Clubs. Over the past decade the club has been run by dedicated parents and coaches running the popular Mini Roos Program at the weekend. In 2024 a new committee was formed, bringing together the leaders of the past clubs to form the Woodend Eagles Soccer Club. In July 2024 the committee began the mission to get council to develop a dedicated rectangular pitch that the club could compete and train on to support the 120+ kids currently enjoying the training program.

Currently we are lucky to have a dedicated team of coaches and assistants including two ex-socceroo champions.

Woodend’s original team, The Woodend Dragons, was formed back in 2013 by Adrian Sisk who is one of our current coaches. They began training with just 8 kids at St Ambrose School Oval in Woodend.

As numbers and popularity grew the training moved to Woodend Primary School oval.

In 2015 the team was ready to compete but had no official ground, so accepted the kind offer from Kyneton Soccer Club to play in the Bendigo League under their clubs banner.

Despite loosing their first game 5-1 they ended up becoming champions of the BASI Under 12’s competition.

In the following years, up until the creation of the Woodend Eagles, the Dragons have run very popular Mini Roos programs run by various dedicated parents and coaches including Dave Keenan and Aiden Lynch who are now training our next generation superstars.
